James A. Cawood and Cawood advanced to the Trojanette Invitational title game with semifinal wins over Rosspoint and Wallins, respectively, on Thursday.

The Trojanettes rolled to a 31-9 victory over Rosspoint.

Samantha Hardy poured in 12 points for James A. Cawood (2-0).

Rosspoint (1-1) was led by Taylor Simpson with five points.

The Lady Comets held off Wallins 15-10 in the second semifinal game.

Melinda Irvin led Cawood (2-0) with 10 points.

Kiya Calton scored four points to lead Wallins (1-1).

Evarts defeated Cumberland 20-15 in the evening’s first game, a losers bracket contest.

Breanna Holbrook and Kaitlynn Helton scored seven and six points, respectively, to lead Evarts (1-1).

Cumberland (0-2) was led by Kacie Russell with seven and Tia King with six.

Black Mountain also got into the win column, defeating Rosspoint 32-10. The Lady Cats filled in for Green Hills, which dropped out of the tournament.

Rebecca Middleton paced Black Mountain (1-1) with 10 points, and Makala Pace added eight.

Rosspoint (1-2) was led by Courtney Maggard with five points.

All the teams return to action Saturday, when the tournament will feature a morning and evening session. Cumberland will face James A. Cawood at 9 a.m., followed by Black Mountain and Evarts at 10. Wallins and Rosspoint will square off in the consolation game at 5 p.m., and James A. Cawood will play Cawood for the championship at 7.

The tournament continues tonight with seventh- and eighth-grade competition. The Trojanettes will take on Cumberland at 5 and Black Mountain will face Rosspoint (again filling in for Green Hills) at 6 in losers brackets matchups. Evarts will play Rosspoint at 7 and Cawood will take on Wallins at 8 in winners bracket contests.
