HCHS Dance Day slated

The Harlan County High School dance team will host a Dance Day on Feb. 1, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration will be held at 4 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. All participants will be divided by age groups and will be taught a short routine. There will be a performance on Feb. 4, during halftime of the Harlan County boys game against Barbourville. Cost is $10 per participant and will include admission to the game. Age groups include: Age 3 through second-grade; third- through fifth-grade; and sixth- through eighth-grade.

7/8 Tourney schedule set

Pairings have been announced for the upcoming county seventh- and eighth-grade basketball tournament. First round contests will be held on Feb. 9, and include: Noon — Rosspoint vs Green Hills; 1:30 p.m. — Cumberland vs Black Mountain; 3 p.m. — Wallins vs James A. Cawood; 4:30 p.m. Cawood vs Evarts. The semifinals will be held Feb. 11 at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The consolation game is set for Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m., with the championship following at 7 p.m. All games will be played at James A. Cawood.
