An Enterprise Staff Report

The Harlan Lady Dragons rallied from a double-digit fourth quarter deficit to upset North Laurel 53-47 on Friday.

Jourdan Ledford and Torri Mitchell each had 14 points to lead the way for Harlan (1-2). Ledford had 11 points to outscore the Lady Jags by herself in the final period.

Seniors Brooke Carpenter and Kendall Ellington led North Laurel with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Carpenter hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter while Ledford and eighth grader Jordan Brock had two baskets each for Harlan as the first quarter ended in a 9-9 tie. Harlan built a 25-17 by halftime as freshman guard Shanae Thomas came off the bench to score eight points, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers.

Ellington had four baskets in the third quarter as North Laurel exploded for 23 points to take a 40-32 lead.

The Lady Dragons fell 70-33 at 13th Region power Clay County on Monday. Additional details were not available.

Harlan returns to action Friday as it opens district play at Bell County.
