Despite the emotion and hoopla that comes with senior night, Jennifer Parsons had something to say to her Lady Redhounds on Friday.

"Coach told us it was OK to have fun, but we still had a game to win," Corbin senior Katie Akins said.

The Lady Redhounds (24-3) had their fun, as the exiting seniors handed out hugs across the board in the fourth quarter. And they won their last game of the regular season, defeating visiting Harlan 60-30.

Parsons said the convincing win was just what her team needed to help them close out the season with some confidence.

"I though we did a lot of things well tonight, and we came out and played our style of basketball," she said. "It says a lot for our girls to come out and play as well as they did on a really emotional night."

Seniors Heather Clouse and Christina Sutton led the Lady Redhounds in scoring. Clouse poured in a game-high 21 points, while Sutton finished with 12.

The game was close in the early going as Corbin limped out to an 11-8 lead. Clouse missed her first five shot attempts, but eventually found her stroke and finished the first quarter with 10 points as the Lady Redhounds closed the first quarter with a 8-0 run to push their lead to 19-8.

Brittany Jackson led the way for Corbin in the second quarter. She scored six points in the period while Clouse scored another five to help the Lady Redhounds extend their lead to 37-14 at the half.

Harlan had its most productive quarter of the game in the third, scoring 11 points, but by that time, Harlan head coach Chuck Mitchell said, his team was too far behind.

"Anytime you get down that far, it's tough to get back in the game," Mitchell said. "This is a good Corbin team, and honestly, they just outplayed us tonight."

Harlan (14-14) will take on Cumberland in the first round of the 52nd District Tournament on Tuesday at Bell County. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

The Lady Redhounds return to action Monday when they face Williamsburg in the first round of the 50th District Tournament at 6:30 p.m.
