An Enterprise Staff Report

Only two games into the season, the Cumberland Lady Skins already appear to be in midseason form.

The visiting Lady Skins pounded out 13 hits and rolled to a 14-0 victory in five innings over Evarts on Thursday.

Two pitchers combined to hold the Lady Cats hitless. Junior Kelsey Day (1-1) fanned eight and walked two in three innings. Sophomore Samantha Sexton pitched the final two innings, striking out one.

Day led Cumberland (1-1) at the plate with three doubles. Natasha Pennington, Colleen Boggs and Ashley Reynolds each singled twice. Sexton, Shawna Short, Jenny Clay and Kendra Russell added a single apiece.

Becky Long (0-2) took the loss for the Lady Cats.

The Lady Skins return to action Monday at home against Leslie County. Evarts (0-2) will travel to Cawood on April 7.

Senior Heather Posey singled for the Trojanettes’ only hit.

Chatman Taylor (1-0) earned the win for the Lady Lions, striking out five and walking one.
