Chasity Stewart and Toni Irvin scored 13 points each as Cawood celebrated eighth-grade night with a 34-22 win over Evarts on Tuesday.

Irvin scored 11 first-half points as the Lady Comets led 20-11 at halftime. Stewart tallied six points in the third period as Cawood extended the lead to 28-15.

Amie Partin led Evarts (2-8) with eight points. Cawood improved to 8-4 on the season. The Lady Comets claimed their 10th win of the season with a 31-30 victory in the fifth- and sixth-grade game. Morgan Blakley scored seven points in the opening quarter as Evarts led 9-8. Katelyn Johnson, who scored seven points in the first period, poured in nine in the second quarter, but the Lady Cats took a 19-17 advantage at halftime.

The game was tied at 23 after three quarters. Johnson powered Cawood (10-1) with 28 points. Ashley Day led Evarts (9-1) with 10 points. Blakley scored nine. Cawood travels to James A. Cawood and Evarts will visit Rosspoint on Tuesday.

Cawood coasted to a 36-6 win Monday over visiting Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Shayna Collins paced Cawood with five points.

Whitney Locurto scored four to lead Green Hills.

Johnson poured in 20 points as Cawood won 40-8 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Jesse Johnson tossed in nine points to lead Black Mountain (10-0) to a 32-25 victory at Cumberland in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action on Tuesday.

Kacie Russell paced the Lady Skins with nine points.

Black Mountain will host Green Hills on Monday, while Cumberland will travel to Wallins.

The Harlan Green Dragons cruised to a 42-6 victory at Lynn Camp in recent seventh- and eighth-grade football action.

Devin Foster opened the scoring on the first play from scrimmage as he broke up the middle for a 65-yard touchdown to make it 6-0.

Tanner Parks later completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Adam Mills. Andrew Saylor ran in the two-point conversion.

Tyler Jenkins scored on the Dragons’ third possession with a 55-yard run. Tanner Parks ran in the two-point conversion to push the lead to 22-0.

On the next Lynn Camp possession, Foster intercepted a Lynn Camp pass and ran it back 70-yards for a touchdown.

Mills stretched the lead to 34-0 on Harlan’s first drive of the second half with a 50-yard touchdown run.

Kilian Ledford capped off the scoring with a 30-yard quarterback bootleg in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Andrew Saylor added the two-point conversion.

Foster led the Dragons with 60 yards rushing on just one carry. Jenkins had 55 yards on one carry. Mills contributed 50 yards on one carry. Ledford recorded 45 yards on three carries. Saylor had three carries for 35 yards, while Bitty Foster had two carries for 20 yards.

Foster had three interceptions to lead Harlan on the defensive side of the ball. Jenkins added one pick.

Rosspoint rallied for a 30-12 win at Cumberland in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Taylor Simpson and Phebe McHargue each scored six to lead Rosspoint (7-2).

Kacie Russell led Cumberland (6-5) with six points.

Hannah Johnson hit the game-winning shot in overtime as Cumberland avenged an 11-point loss earlier in the season with a 33-31 win on Monday in fifth- and sixth-grade basketball action.

Johnson scored 13 and Nikki Creech added 10 for the 4-8 Lady Skins.

Rosspoint defeated Green Hills 49-4 in previously unreported action as Breann Turner scored 12 to lead the Lady Cats.

The Lady Cats won 33-4 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.
