The New Harlan Patriots blew a big lead, before falling 28-20 to Rockcastle County in seventh- and eighth-grade football action recently.

The Patriots opened the scoring when Jacob Branson found David Turner on a 40-yard touchdown pass.

After a Rockcastle score tied the game at six, Branson connected with Tyler Scearse on a 60-yard touchdown.

Kennon Napier pushed the lead to 20-6 when he recovered a fumble and raced in from 30-yards out.

Rockcastle County closed the deficit to 20-14 at the half with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.

The Rockets took the lead in the fourth quarter when an interception was returned 75-yards for a touchdown. New Harlan will host Evarts today, and travel to Corbin on Saturday in the first round of the state playoffs.

Rockcastle won 14-12 in the seventh-grade game.

Paul Stapleton had two touchdown runs for the Patriots in the first half.

The Cumberland Lady Skins knocked off Arlie Boggs 33-16 in the regular season finale on Monday.

Kacie Russell recorded 10 points to pace the Lady Skins.

Holly Shepherd tossed in 11 points for Arlie Boggs.

T.C. Summersall’s 13 points lifted Cumberland to a 34-10 victory in the fifth- and sixth-grade contest.
