The Harlan County girls junior varsity team downed Wesley Christian’s varsity squad 48-18 in action at Breathitt County.

Lauren Smith paced the Pady Bears with 14 points, while Bridgette Bennett added 13.

Purple Devils hold off Cumberland

Treyce Spurlock poured in 22 points to lift Wallins to a 50-44 victory at Cumberland in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action on Monday.

Joey Swanner’s 13 points led the Redskins.

Jared Hawkins tossed in 15 points to lead Wallins to a 42-24 win in the fifth- and sixth-grade contest.

Xavier Simmons had 17 points to pace Cumberland.

In previously unreported action, Cumberland fell 40-35 to Whitesburg.

Wallins plays host to James A. Cawood on Thursday. Cumberland plays host to Evarts on Monday.
