Monroe Hill, Jr. age 88 of Cawood, KY went to his rest with Jesus on August 21, 2012 at his home. Monroe was born on March 27, 1924 to the union of Monroe and Edna Paul Hill. Monroe proudly served his country during World War II in the 29th Infantry Division. He was a Prisoner of War and a Purple Heart Recipient. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Dayton, Ohio after 34 years of service. Monroe was an Ordained Minister of the Pentecostal Faith and served as Pastor of several churches in Ohio. Presently, he served as the elder of Pace Chapel Church in Smith, KY.

Preceeding Monroe in death were his parents; his wife, Viola Wilburn Hill; one brother, Delano Hill; four sisters, Reva Mae Hill, Mary Mills, Wanda Stewart, Joyce Killon, and Geane, a still born sister.

Monroe is survived by his brothers, Herman (Virgie) Hill of Lenarue, KY, Kenneth (Lorene) Hill of Cawood, KY; his sister, Linda Sue (Terry) Brown of Harrogate, TN and many beloved nephews and nieces also survive.

Visitation for Mr. Hill will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Pace Chapel in Smith, KY with the Rev. Franklin Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Fields Family Cemetery in Cawood, KY with the Rev. Gary Grubbs, Sr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Monroe’s family and Church family. Military rites will be observed by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
