It’s time to start getting your photo entries ready for the annual photo contest at the Festival of the Mountain Masters on Nov. 27-28.

The event is presented by the Harlan Daily Enterprise.

This year’s contest will be located inside the old Belk store, and will include three divisions — accomplished, amateur and children.

There will be 10 categories for the accomplished and amateur entries. They are: black & white, animals, children, scenery, nature, people, flowers, Harlan County, mountain scenery and open.

The open category is added this year to accommodate photos that do not fit into any other category such as photos of trains, cars and such.

Children’s categories are people, flowers, animals and scenery.

The children's’ division will be for those 12 years of age and under.

There will be a will be first-, second- and third-place ribbons and a best of show plaque for each division.

Due to the volume of photos we are receiving we have set a limit of five photos for each category; for accomplished and amateur a total of 50 photos per person and for children a total of 20 per person.

Photos should be matted no smaller than 5x7 and no larger than 16x20 with matting.

Photos must be matted to be accepted. There will be no entry fee. Photos need to be submitted no later than 3 p.m. on Nov. 27. The show will be closed to the public during the judging. New work is suggested that was taken over the past year.
