International speaker, author, teacher and senior pastor's wife Dotty E. Schmitt will be featured at the fifth annual Harlan County Women's Conference.

Schmitt, of Silver Springs, Md., presently serves on the pastoral staff of Immanuel's Church with her husband, Charles. The Schmitts founded the church in 1983.

Schmitt has experience as a school teacher, senior pastor's wife, radio talk show host and writer, in addition to her numerous speaking engagements.

Schmitt has authored three books including “The Delight of Being His Daughter,” “The Bride Wore Combat Boots,” and “The Threshold of Glory.”

A release from Schmitt's office extended an invitation to the women in the area to “come and celebrate the power of joy.”

Schmitt said her delight is to see others practically equipped and encouraged in the Word and in the love and power of the Holy Spirit.

The event promises to be an evening of both weeping and laughter as Schmitt unfolds the beauty, as well as often bewildering ways of the Lord, through the revelation of His Word.

The women's conference is scheduled for Oct. 20 and 21, and will be held for the first time at the Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College theater at the Harlan campus.

Event organizer Elaine Landis said the seating is limited to the conference, and those who plan to attend should get their registration entered quickly to ensure a slot.

Landis said the weekend will be filled with wonderful testimonies, fellowship, food and fun.

Persons interested in attending this year's conference should call 573-7079 or 589-2251 for more information.
