A two-vehicle accident on KY 72 Tuesday afternoon seriously injured a teenager. Rescue workers used the "Jaws of Life" to get Corey Daniels, 16, out of his Toyota after the accident. According to Sgt. Damon Gayheart of the Kentucky State Police, Daniels' vehicle slid on the wet road while going around a curve and crossed the center line. Charles W. Carmony, driving a white truck, struck Daniels' vehicle on the passenger side. Daniels was taken by ambulance to Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital, then by helicopter to Kingsport. According to Gayheart, he was undergoing emergency surgery at presstime. Carmony was checked and released at HARH, said Gayheart.
