An Enterprise Staff Report

The Tri-Cities All-Stars advanced to the winner’s bracket finals in the (11-12 year old) District 4 Tournament with a 15-6 rout of Clay County at North Laurel on Wednesday.

Destinee Jenkins collected a triple and three singles to power Tri-Cities at the plate. Haley Blakley recorded a double and two singles. Regan Caudill contributed a triple and a single. Autumn Dunaway and Shawnee Cress and added a double and a single. Kacie Russell, Nikki Creech, Taylor Johnson and Emily Eldridge each had two singles.

“We played really well,” said Tri-Cities coach Ronnie Cox. “We hit the ball all the way through the lineup. I couldn’t ask for better hitting.”

Jenkins struck out five batters in four innings to claim the win on the mound. Russell pitched two innings in relief.

“The pitchers both showed experience. They got in trouble and battled out of it,” Cox said.

The Tri-Cities All-Stars return to action Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s North Laurel/McCreary Central contest.
