UK All-Stars to play in benefit game

Get ready for some fun.

The UK All-Stars, a barnstorming team featuring Jules Camara, fresh off the Cats' 26-4 run this year, and stars like Jeff Sheppard, Sean Woods, Jared Prickett and Allen Edwards from recent Kentucky history will play at Cawood at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Their opponents, however, may be of even more interest.

Tony Saragas, director of the Cawood Ledford boys and girls club, has assembled a team of local luminaries. The Boys and Girls Club All-Stars will include 13th Region champion Cumberland boys coach Bill Scott and his assistant Derek Akal, Cawood boys coach Anthony Nolan, Cawood girls coach Bucky Burkhart, Evarts boys coach Rick Parsons and Harlan girls coach Chuck Mitchell.

Also, Nick Sanford, Cawood's second leading all-time scorer, and Nathan Blanton, a former Harlan point guard and NAIA All-American at Tennessee Wesleyan, will play, along with district court judge Phillip Hamm and WTUK sports director Bill Ellis.
