A Harlan woman was arrested on several charges Sunday after the police noticed the passenger in her vehicle was wanted on drug charges and stopped the vehicle.

Harlan County sheriff’s Sgt. David Williams had a warrant on Terry Green, 33, of Harlan, and had told Loyall Police Chief Chris Haught the day before about the warrant.

Williams said Haught observed Green in Jennifer Witt’s vehicle and made the stop. Haught detained Green until Williams arrived with the warrant. Green was charged with first- and second-degree trafficking a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, public intoxication and persistent felony offender.

Williams said Witt, 26, failed a field sobriety test. She was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to produce insurance card, failure to register the transfer of a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt, possession of drug paraphernalia, first- and second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

Williams said two syringes and two baggies of various pills were found during the arrest.

Green and Witt were lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
