Virginia Lee Owens, 61, Lejunior, died Dec. 18, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington following a long illness.

A native of Harlan County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evline Hembree Bennett; her father, Bennie Mays Bennett; and a brother, Cecil Wayne Bennett.

Survivors include her husband, Solomon J. Owens, Lejunior; four children: Martha Ann Vaughn and husband, David, Telford, Tenn; George Wayne Owens, Central City; Alice Pennington, Lexington; and Frances Darlene Richmond and husband, Larry, London; five sisters: Maggie Ann Smith, Evarts; Brenda Betancourt and Bobbie Cox, both of Indiana; Vickie Greenway and husband, Mike, Florida; and Cinda Perkins and husband, Jake; seven brothers: Silas Bennett and wife, Linda, Florida; James Bennett and wife, Joann, Wallins; Bruce Bennett, and wife, Patsy, Evarts; Kenneth Benneth and wife, Ann, Evarts; Binny Ray Bennett and wife, Tina, Lejunior; Roger Bennett and wife, Linda, Indiana; and Vernon Bennett and wife, Billie, Evarts; four grandchildren: Andy Vaughn, April Vaughn, Angel Pennington and Kylie Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Evarts Funeral Home and Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Jack Ed Ford and the Rev. Arnold Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
