Staff Report

Kentucky State Police Trooper Danny Caudill arrested a woman after she allegedly hit a man on a bicycle with her vehicle on Wednesday.

Winifred Williams, 46 of Dayhoit, was charged with first-degree assault after she allegedly hit Eric D. Griffey, 40 also of Dayhoit, with the vehicle she was driving.

Caudill said shortly after 8 p.m. on July 4, Williams and Griffey were allegedly walking together and an argument ensued. It was reported that Williams left the scene and got into a vehicle. Griffey was riding a bicycle on KY 3415, when Williams claims Griffey pulled out in front of her and she struck him with a mirror on her vehicle. Griffey claims Williams ran over him. Griffey was treated and released from the hospital. Williams was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. Her bond is pending. Assisting Caudill with the arrest was Trooper Jason Joseph.
