Tractor Supply coming to Harlan

Tractor Supply, the leading retail farm and ranch store brand company in America, is coming to Harlan.

Harlan County residents will see the opening of the business in mid-February. It will be on property located between the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and Cumberland River Comprehensive Care Center.

“The store will employ 12 to 17 full and part-time team members,” said Tractor Supply Media Representative Rob Hoskins. “A soft opening for the store is tentatively scheduled for mid-February 2013. Tractor Supply is very excited to be a new member of the Harlan business community.”

Founded in 1938 as a mail order tractor parts business, Tractor Supply Company owns and operates over 1,130 stores in 45 states supplying daily farm and ranch maintenance supplies to a targeted customer base.

“The Harlan County Fiscal Court became involved with Tractor Supply Company through the permitting process, for elevations, road access and those kind of issues,” said Harlan County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop.

“We know there is a Tractor Supply store in Middlesboro. There are a lot of Harlan County people traveling to Middlesboro to shop at that Tractor Supply store,” said Grieshop. “So, people may be happy about them coming — some may not, but overall, it’s always good for Harlan County to get a new business, to bring opportunity for our citizens and for job opportunities to be there for those who wish to work in that type of facility.”

Tractor Supply Company will not sell tractors. Their products include clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor/trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, sprinkler/irrigation parts, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies, riding mowers and much more.

Beginning as a store which served the needs of farmers and ranchers near Minot, ND, Tractor Supply is now in rural communities all across America. Tractor Supply will also offer a staff of experts to provide advice on products and services to help the consumer.
