The Harlan Elementary School was filled with children recently as incoming kindergarten students and their families participated in the school’s Jump Start Program. With 75 kindergarten students enrolled for the upcoming year, Principal Mary Lou McCarthy said she was pleased with the 69 students who attended the event where they were given the opportunity to met with teachers and make new friends on the playground. Karagan Baker, 5 of Baxter, is seen having fun on the slide. Her mother, Jessica Burnett, said her daughter tackles everything, even playing, with gusto.
