Local runners compete in Berea meet

Local runners competed in the Berea Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday.

Breanna Epperson finished 18th to lead Harlan County to a third-place finish overall in the firls varsity competition.

Kassie Rouse placed 19th. Laces Stevens came in 22nd. Jennifer Graham was 24th. Cassidy Ball finished 27th. Aaryn Jackson came in 30th, and Miranda Epperson followed in 42nd.

Harlan’s Laura Pace finished 29th.

The Harlan County boys team turned in a seventh-place finish.

Steven Engle led the Bears finished 32nd. Josh Wynn came in 35th. Donavan Johnson was 38th. Caleb Bailey and Noah Hughes placed 42nd and 43rd respectively. Caleb Justen was 46th, while Steve Reed came in 53rd

Madison Central swept both the girls and boys varsity race.

Sidney Kelly’s eighth-place performance lifted the Lady Bears to a second-place performance in the reserve run.

Farren Clark came in ninth. Jessica Hall was 19th, while Whitney Barger followed in 20th. Summer Garrett finished 25th.

Tim Witt was 10th to place Harlan County in the boys reserve race. Nate Fillwer followed in 11th. Joel Thomas came in 21st. Jacob Watts was 30th.

Rebecca Middleton was 19th to lead the Lady Bears in the middle school run. Allison Cornett came in 21st, and Bethany Day placed 36th.

Harlan’s Andrew Mills turned in a second-place performance in the boys middle school race. Fellow Green Dragons Mason Miller and Billy Day were fourth and 39th respectively.

Trent McKenzie led Harlan County with a 16th-place finish in the race. Alex Lewis was 18th. Hunter Smallwood came in 53rd. Caleb Bailey finished 56th, and Whitman Hopkins was 59th.

Harlan County’s Katie Graham finished 18th in the girls middle school race, while teammate Abby Vitatoe came in 31st.

Drake Ward paced the Bears with an 11th-place finish in the boys elementary school race. Matthew Brown came in 13th.

Southwestern captured both the boys and girls elementary school races.
