The Harlan Green Dragons placed second in the Cumberland River All “A” fifth- and sixth-grade tournament recently.

Harlan fell 36-31 to Barbourville in the championship contest. Patrick Bynum powered the Green Dragons with 11 points, while Jacob Wilson added 10.

Barbourville outscored Harlan 14-6 in the decisive second quarter to take a 10-point lead into the half. The Dragons rallied in the second half, but were unable to erase the deficit.

Harlan knocked off Williamsburg 42-33 in the tournament semifinals.

The Green Dragons dropped a pair of games against Williamsburg during the regular season, including an 18-point defeat at home. Harlan trailed by one at the half in the latest contest, before outscoring the Yellow Jackets 27-17 in the final two quarters.

Troy Barton fired in 15 points to pace the Green Dragons in the win.

Harlan downed Lynn Camp 54-30 in seventh- and eighth-grade action on Thursday.

Noah Busroe’s 17 points led the Green Dragons.

Harlan fell 37-33 to the Wildcats in the seventh-grade game.

Matthew Simpson recorded 15 points to pace HMS in the loss.

In previously unreported action, the Dragons defeated Page 20-17 in a fourth-grade contest in the ‘Doc” Gray Classic after falling to the Bell County school 15-12 just one day earlier.
