Rosspoint wins district Governor’s Cup

The academic team from Rosspoint Elementary School won top honors during the District 125 Governor’s Cup competition held at James A. Cawood Elementary School on March 2.

Results from the various events were:

Mathematics assessment: First place — Emerson Johnson, Rosspoint; second place — Brett Roark, Wallins; third place — Randy Miniard, Wallins; fourth place — Noah Saylor, Wallins; and fifth place — Jacey Lewis, Rosspoint.

Science assessment: First place (tie) — Brett Roark and Hayston Saylor, both from Wallins; third place — Edmund Dye, Wallins; fourth place — Connor Dixon, Harlan; fifth place — Baili Boggs, Rosspoint.

Composition: First place — Emily Long, Rosspoint; second place — Hannah Jones, Harlan; third place — Zoie Wilson, Wallins; fourth place — Kassydee Owens, Rosspoint; and fifth place — Emma Fisher, Harlan.

Social Studies assessment: First place — Hayston Saylor, Wallins; second place — Kyla LeFevers, Harlan; third place — Emily Long, Rosspoint; fourth place (tie) Jelissa Crest, James A. Cawood Elementary, and Emerson Johnson, Rosspoint.

Language Arts assessment: First place — Jaiden Belcher, Rosspoint; second place — Emily Sergent, Rosspoint; third place — Tyler Bailey, Wallins; fourth place — Maidson Hall, Rosspoint; and fifth place — Briana Carr, Harlan.

Arts and Humanities assessment: First place — Jaiden Belcher, Rosspoint; second place — Madison Hall, Rosspoint; third place — Emily Sergent, Rosspoint; fourth place — Edmund Dye, Wallins; and fifth place — Andrew Benson, Harlan.

Future Problem Solving: First place — Rosspoint; second place — Harlan; and third place — Wallins.

Hume Sportsmanship Award Recipient: Wallins.
