Lady Dragons sweep Jackson Co.

The Harlan Lady Dragons allowed just one run in two games to sweep a double-header against visiting Jackson County on Friday.

The Lady Dragons knocked off Jackson County 4-1 in the first contest.

Harlan opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning.

Madison Noe led off the inning with a walk. Noe advanced to second on a passed ball. Madison Brewer then delivered a single. Noe scored on a wild pitch. Heather Holland drove in Brewer with a single.

Harlan made it 3-0 with another run in the second inning.

Kaitlyn Jenkins advanced to second base on an error. She scored when Anna Karst singled up the middle of the infield.

Jackson County made it 3-1 with a run in the fourth inning. However, the Lady Dragons closed the scoring with a run in the sixth.

Torri Mitchell singled to start the offense. Shanae Thomas then reached on an error to second base. Jourdan Ledford drove in the run with a double to left field.

Brewer had a double and a single to lead Harlan at the plate. Ledford delivered a double, while Karst, Mitchell, Holland and Alyssa Mills all added a single.

Brewer recorded five strikeouts, while scattering five hits in the complete-game victory on the mound.

The Lady Dragons reeled off six runs in the first inning and were never threatened in a 9-0 win over the Lady Generals in the second game.

Noe, Karst, Thomas, Ledford, Mills and Amanda Longworth all scored in the opening inning.

Karst and Holland pushed the advantage to 8-0 with runs in the second inning.

Holland closed the scoring with a run in the fourth inning.

Karst led the offense with a single and a double. Ledford recorded a triple. Mills contributed a double. Thomas and Kylie Noah each added a single.

Noe struck out seven batters, while allowing just three hits in the complete-game victory.

Harlan (13-11) returns to action Thursday at Middlesboro. Jackson County (8-9) hosts Owsley County on Monday.
