American Legion hosts Memorial Day event

The American Legion Post 273 in Loyall hosted a Memorial Day service at the Harlan Honor Guard building in Lawnvale on Sunday. The folding of the flag ceremony honoring the American flag was conducted and presented to Harlan Honor Guard Commander Fred Hall. Harlan County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop stood at attention in the background during the ceremony. A gun-salute was also conducted by members of the Harlan Honor Guard to honor the American flag and pay tribute to those soldiers who sacrificed everything for their country. Several speakers were on hand during the ceremony including Benham Mayor John Dodd, Grieshop and Rev. Thomas Heck. Music was provided by Paula Johnson and refreshments were served to all those who attended.
