If you would like to own Justified FX series memorabilia, now is your chance.
The Tri-Cities Woman’s Club (TCWC) has six items personally signed or worn by members of the cast on display at the Kentucky Coal Museum. Items are up for bids.
“We have two items up for bid right now,” said TCWC Assistant Treasurer Barbara Ayers. “To place a bid you will need to Facebook Tri-Cities Woman’s Club, view the items and enter your bid. The two items are a 24 X 36 inch poster of Timothy Olyphant, autographed by Timothy Olyphant (Raylan), Walton Goggins (Boyd) and Graham Yost (writer and executive producer) and a Justified toboggan.”
Ayers said the minimum bid on the poster is $75 and $20 on the toboggan. She said most of the items will have a minimum bid. Each set will stay up for bids for one month on Facebook.
“You have until June 5 to bid on the present items and then two more items will be placed on our Facebook page for bids,” said Ayers. “The other items we have are an 8 X 10 photo of Timothy Olyphant, autographed by Timothy Olyphant (Raylan), complete set of DVDs of the second season of Justified, autographed by eight members of the cast, writers, executive producers or producers, an original script for “The Pilot” of the Justified series (Lawman), autographed by Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins and Graham Yost and a Gangstagrass T-shirt (the band who sings the theme song for Justified), autographed by members of the band.”
Ayers said the TCWC usually offers a $750 to $1,000 scholarship each year to deserving seniors to help them with their college expenses.
“All the proceeds from this project will definitely go for scholarships, because that is why the items were donated from Justified,” said Ayers.
Credit for obtaining the memorabilia is given to Jerry Asher, of Tremont, who often consults with Justified writers on Harlan County traditions.
“After Barbara asked me to contact Justified for perhaps one item to auction off, I was surprised when six items were donated,” said Asher. “Justified has been generous in sending lots of other items to different organizations in the county.”
Asher said recently all the writers for Justified were in Harlan and visited the coal museum. He said they “loved the museum and the beautiful mountains of Harlan County.” He took them on a tour of several places in the county and said everyone “seemed to enjoy themselves.”
Asher continued, saying everyone involved with the Justified series “wants to help Harlan County in any way they can.”
“They really cherished the coal museum,” said Asher. “I just hope these items donated will stay in the county. The big poster we got would look really good in one of our local restaurants. I’ve been trying to get our local government to erect a sign when you enter the county recognizing the Justified series, indicating it is the fictional home of Raylan Givens.”
Asher said there have been recent visitors from Nashville, Tenn., Virginia Beach, Va., and even as far away as Germany coming to the museum asking for the “Justified Harlan County Tour.”
“The series is world renown and Harlan County is a part of it,” said Asher. “We’re all appreciative of Justified’s support and hope the series continues for years to come.”
