The Harlan offense put up three runs in the first inning and Dylan McNiel took care of the rest Tuesday, as the Green Dragons picked up a 10-1 win at Leslie County.
McNiel struck out four batters, while allowing just four hits and one walk in the complete-game performance on the mound.
The Dragons provided more than enough run support in the first inning.
Caleb Hogue led off the inning with a single. McNiel followed with a single of his own. Ben Abraham then singled up the middle to drive in both runners. Abraham scored when Tye Patrick reached base on an error to make it 3-0.
Harlan extended its lead to 7-0 with four runs in the second inning.
Hogue reached base on an error. McNiel followed with a single. Jordan Turbyfill loaded the bases with a walk. Abraham cleared them in the next at-bat with a three-run double. Abraham later scored on a single by Patrick.
The Green Dragons tacked on two more runs in the third inning.
Hogue started the offense with a single. McNiel then drew a walk. Turbyfill drove in the first run of the inning with a single. McNiel scored when Abraham hit into a fielder’s choice.
Harlan scored its final run in the sixth inning.
Jacob Clark reached base on an error. Austin Miller advanced on a single. Caleb Hogue added another single to load the bases. McNiel then hit into a fielder’s choice to drive in Clark.
Abraham had a double and two singles to lead the Harlan offense. Hogue delivered three singles. McNiel, Turbyfill, Miller, Corey Burns and Marshall Ward all recorded two singles. Patrick and Clark each added a single.
Harlan (15-10) returns to action today at Perry Central in a double-header. Leslie County (8-8) will face Betsey Layne on Friday.
