Workers prepare to tow a vehicle damaged in a two-car collision on U.S. 421 that sent one person to the hospital on Thursday. According to Kentucky State Trooper Rodney Sturgill, Cherie Hadley, 60, was driving a blue 2011 Nissan Rogue northbound on U.S. 421 toward Cumberland. The Nissan swerved into the turning lane and struck a maroon 2001 Ford Astro Van driven by Francis Castle, 69. Hadley was transported to Harlan ARH Hospital by ambulance for a possible head and back injury. Sturgill was assisted at the scene by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office, Harlan City Police and Harlan EMS..
