Pineville Native Matt Gann posted a two-day total of 130 to capture his second Harlan Invitational Tournament title on Sunday.

The Bell County High School golf coach shot a 32 on the back nine to edge Zack Fowler by two strokes and capture his first Harlan Invitational championship since 2007.

While Gann turned in a solid performance in the second half of his final round, he credited a putt on the seventh hole with giving him the momentum on Sunday.

“On number seven I hit a pretty god little shot in about 12 foot, and I made the put. That kind of swung things in my favor,” he said.

Gann entered the Harlan Invitational with wins at Jonesville, Va. and Pineville in his previous two outings.

“I have been in this position numerous times now, and I have won the last two weeks. Been there and done it makes a difference,” he said.

Gann added that he was pleased with his play over the weekend.

“People don’t realize how tough this little course it. Six-under here is definitely good, and I had a lot of good competition,” he said. “This place is special. It always has been. I remember coming here as a kid and playing in some junior tournaments.”
