A Winchester man is facing multiple charges including manufacture of methamphetamine following his arrest early Saturday. Justin Brown, 29, was arrested Saturday by Harlan City Police Officer Britt Ross.
According to a press release, Ross and Officer Matt Cope attempted to serve a Jefferson County warrant for manufacturing methamphetamine on Brown. Upon arrival at the Oak Street apartment where Brown was believed to be, Ross and Cope heard a loud noise from the back of the apartment. Brown allegedly jumped out of the apartment’s second story window, jumped a fence and fled on foot down Harlan Avenue.
The release states Brown was subdued by tazer on South Main Street. Brown was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police and alcohol intoxication in a public place in addition to manufacturing methamphetamine.
Brown was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
In other police activity:
* Jason Griffey, 30, of Wallins, was arrested Friday by the Benham Police Department on a charge of first-degree sodomy. Griffey was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
* Harry Shuler, 31, of Smith, was arrested Sunday by Kentucky State Police Trooper Josh Howard on charges of first-degree promoting contraband, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and no registration plates. Shuler was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 requiring 10 percent cash;
* Jeffery Woodard, 45, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Chief Lupe Blas on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. Woodard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond requiring 10 percent cash.
