A man who allegedly stole musical equipment and instruments from a local church has been arrested.
Jason Haynes, 31, of Baxter, faces felony charges after being arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Danny Caudill at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Monday.
According to the arrest warrant, Caudill stated Haynes unlawfully entered the Freedom Full Gospel Church in Tremont on April 16 and took musical instruments and a PA system valued at more than $500.
Caudill recovered several of the items a few days ago.
According to the warrant, Haynes had signed paperwork when he sold the items to Roseanne Ray at the Buy, Sell and Trade Store in Baxter.
Previous Enterprise reports state some of the equipment has already been returned to the Freedom Full Gospel Church.
Haynes was charged with second-degree burglary and theft by deception, including cold checks under $500.
Haynes was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $15,000 full cash bond. The incident is being investigated by Caudill.
In other police activity, Gary Thomas, 33, of Somerset, was arrested Monday by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office for probation violation. Thomas was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
