Caleb Hogue turned in a complete-game effort on the mound and Ben Abraham provided the power at the plate as Harlan held off Barbourville 6-5 in 13th Region action on Friday.

After a Barbourvile run, Harlan took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Hogue led off the inning with a walk. Jacob Clark followed with a single. Ben Abraham delivered a double to drive in both runs.

Barbourville regained the lead with a pair of runs in the third inning, and extended the advantage to 4-2 with another run in the fourth. The lead was short-lived, however, as Harlan reeled off three runs in the fifth to go back in front.

Dylan McNiel started the offense with a single. Caleb Hogue followed with a walk. Abraham then came through with another double to drive in the first run of the inning. Hogue scored when Marshall Ward reached on an error.

Barbourville tied the game with a run in the seventh inning, but Harlan answered with a game-winner in the bottom half of the inning.

Hogue got things going with a double. Clark reached base on an error and Abraham was intentionally walked to load the bases. Ward singled up the middle to drive in Clark for the winning run.

Hogue struck out six batters, while issuing three walks and scattering eight hits in the victory for the Green Dragons.

Ben Abraham had two doubles to lead Harlan at the plate. Hogue contributed one double, while Clark, Ward and McNiel each added a single.

Harlan (9-5) will host Buckhorn in a double-header today. Barbourville (2-9) will travel to Knox Central on Tuesday.
