The Harlan Lady Dragons were unable to overcome several miscues Wednesday, falling in the first round of the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic. The Lady Dragons committed five errors on their way to an 11-4 loss at Middlesboro.
Middlesboro took the lead with one run in the first inning. The Lady Jackets then took control with five runs in the second inning.
Harlan closed the gap to 6-1 with a run in the third inning.
Madison Noe reached base first on a fielder’s choice. Noe stole second and later scored on an Anna Karst single.
The Lady Dragons made it 6-2 with another run in the fifth inning.
Noe doubled in to reach base. Karst then drove in the run with a double.
Middlesboro put the game out of reach with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
The Lady Jackets tacked on another run in the sixth inning, before Harlan closed the scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh inning.
Noe first reached base with a triple. Karst followed with a single to score Noe. Heather Holland drove in Karst with double.
Noe had a triple, a double and three runs to lead the Lady Dragons offensively. Karst recorded two singles and a double. Holland contributed a double. Kaitlin Jenkins and Jourdan Ledford each added a single.
Noe recorded two strikeouts, while allowing 12 hits in the loss on the mound.
Harlan (4-3) returns to action April 8, at home against Bell County. Middlesboro (2-1) will face Williamsburg in the second round of the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic.
