Visiting Lynn Camp was swept in a two-set match Thursday as the Harlan Lady Dragons won 25-14, 25-21 in volleyball action.
“We played a lot better tonight, working as a team,” said Harlan coach Tara Posey. “We got (Lauren) Hogue back, and she’s good and healthy. Torri Mitchell has improved a lot since she started playing.”
Harlan scored three straight points to take an 8-3 advantage. A 7-0 run allowed the Lady Dragons to extend the score to 18-10.
Lynn Camp improved in the second match. The Lady Cats scored six unanswered points and led 11-8. The Lady Dragons took a one-point lead, but Lynn Camp scored five straight to make it 17-13. Harlan answered with seven consecutive points and led 20-17.
“Lynn Camp played better as the game went on,” said Posey. “We went 25-27 in the second game at their place, but we hung on and didn’t let that happen this time.”
Harlan fell 21-17, 22-16 in the junior varsity contest. The Lady Dragons defeated Red Bird 25-22 and 25-7 in previously unreported action from Tuesday. Harlan will participate in a junior varsity/freshmen tournament at the Knott County Sportsplex in Hindman on Saturday. The 5-4 Lady Dragons will travel to Middlesboro on Monday in district action and visits Red Bird on Tuesday. Lynn Camp (7-8) returns to action Monday at Whitley County and travels to Knox Central in a district matchup on Tuesday.
