Dr. Rodney Slusher has opened Harlan County Chiropractic at 99 Browning Acres, Suite 19, near Harlan ARH Hospital and just across the street from Henson Florist in Harlan.
Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Slusher hopes to begin opening on Wednesdays and Fridays in the near future.
“Even though we are only open two days a week right now, anyone may call five days a week and those calls will be forwarded to me through my answering service,” said Slusher.
A 2008 graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C., the 33-year old Slusher is now residing in Pathfork
Returning home to assist with family, Slusher said he decided to open an office in Harlan.
“I loved living in South Carolina near the beaches, but I was needed here in Harlan to assist with my grandfather,” said Slusher. “I have a nephew who is growing up so fast and I also wanted to share some memories of his childhood with him.”
Offering treatment for headaches, neck pain, mid and low back pain, shoulder pain and help with fibromyalgia, arthritis and any type of joint or muscular pain, Slusher said he can at least make your pain more tolerable. A lot of times in dealing with arthritis, he can keep the condition from progressing, he said.
“I can give you an exercise and diet plan, stretching routines, supplement plans in case you don’t want to take the medications and try a more natural approach,” said Slusher. “This is the basis for what chiropractors do. We try to do everything we do without the use of drugs or surgery. We try to take a completely natural approach to pain relief or muscle and joint dysfunction.”
A roomy office, there is plenty of parking available. Offering different therapy for different types of conditions, Slusher said each patient gets a different individual approach.
“It’s all individualized,” said Slusher. “If something is not working, we try something else until we find the right approach for you. If it turns out it’s not a chiropractic case, then I will refer you to the specialist you need to see for your condition. If you have had failed back, neck or shoulder surgeries, I can still give you some range of motion and help with muscle spasms — and help with the pain.”
To make an appointment or for more information, you may call 606-573-5010, by email at drrodneyslusher@gmail.com or visit his website at www.HarlanChiro.com. You may also contact him on Facebook. Most insurances are accepted.
“I have my intake forms on my website, which you may download, fill out and print before your appointment, making it quicker and easier for you,” said Slusher. “This allows you to just walk in and be ready for your visit. I don’t think anyone else in town does this for their patients. All emails sent to me will be answered personally. If I miss a call, even if I’m not open, I will return those calls. A lot of people I see say to me, ‘I wish I had come here first before I had surgery.’”
