The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal fire at Cranks.
The Martins Fork Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire around 1:30 a.m.
Harlan County Coroner Phillip Bianchi said Shirley Madrey Rowe, 61, had reportedly lived in the house on KY 568 alone.
Bianchi said he also learned from family members that she heated the residence with a coal stove.
The death remains under investigation by KSP Det. Jason Joseph.
KSP Sgt. A.J. Bunch, Sgt. Jackie Pickrell, Det. Kenny Abner, Det. Josh Bunch, troopers Jacob Wilson and Jared Boggs, and the State Fire Marshal are assisting at the scene. The Sunshine Volunteer Fire Department assisted Martins Fork Fire Department.
