Staff Report
Police have located a weapon believed to be used in a shooting incident in September.
According to previous reports, Kentucky State Police responded to the scene of a shooting in the parking lot of the Pine Flat Baptist Church. Clifford Napier, 59, of Tremont, was shot multiple times. Boss Saylor, 75, of Tremont, was charged with first-degree assault, attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.
The gun allegedly used in that shooting was recovered by KSP Det. Kenny Abner on Tuesday in the woods behind Saylor’s home.
Doug Asher, Saylor’s attorney, reported the whereabouts of the gun to the police.
“This afternoon Mr. Saylor was released on bond,” said Asher. “Shortly thereafter we had a meeting in my office where he immediately chose to produce the .38 caliber pistol involved in the September shooting which led to his indictment. This is a totally voluntary gesture on behalf of Mr. Saylor and is not the result of any request by police. Mr. Saylor was anxious to place authorities in possession of this item as soon as possible as it will play an important part in his defense.”
State police personnel at the scene had no comment on the weapon or the ongoing investigation.
