A two-car collision on U.S. 119 sent two people to the hospital Sunday night with injuries.
A press release from the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office states Paula Ledford, of Dayhoit, was driving a black 2012 Chevrolet Equinox south on U.S. 119 and collided with a black 1998 Honda Civic being driven by Cody Barrett, of Dayhoit.
According to the release, Barrett was initially on the southbound shoulder and attempted to make a u-turn onto U.S. 119 to travel north. The Honda was struck by the Chevrolet, which was traveling in the southbound lane. The Civic traveled across the southbound lane after impact, coming to rest on the northbound shoulder, with Ledford’s vehicle traveling across the northbound lane and coming to a stop on the grass after striking a wooden pole.
The release states both drivers were taken to Harlan ARH Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The incident is being investigated by Deputy Danny Lewis. Lewis was assisted at the scene by deputies Travis Freeman, Mitch Alford and Evarts Police Officer William Clogston. LifeCare Ambulance Service and Harlan EMS also responded to the scene.
