A retired nurses aide, Cawood was a Kentucky Colonel and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andy Brooks and Ida Hurst Brooks; her husband, Walter Bruce Cawood Jr., and one brother, Eugene Brooks.
Survivors include four children: Walter Bruce Cawood III, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; John Brittian Cawood, Middlesboro; Mark Stephen Cawood, Big Laurel; and Hiram Cawood, Harlan; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four brothers: Harry Brooks, Virginia; Auburn Brooks, Baxter; Kenneth Brooks, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and W. Larry Brooks, Middlesboro; three sisters: Lorene Fee, Payne, Ohio; Melta Zapata, Brandenton, Fla.; and Shirley Landford, Harrogate, Tenn.; and several relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Wingo and the Rev. James Willard Pope officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cawood Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
