Geneva Thomas Shackleford, 86, Fresh Meadows, died May 27, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

A native of Wallins, Shackleford was a housewife and a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Shackleford; her parents, Wimer and Jennie Clark Thomas; a son, Donald G. Shackleford; a grandson, David Oscar Shackleford; three sisters: Margaret Noe; Dorothy Hatfield and Oreida Thomas; and three brothers: Perry Thomas; Lewis Thomas and Arnold Thomas.

Survivors include a son, Almond Shackleford and wife, Alafair, Fresh Meadows; a sister, Delorice Davis and husband, Bill, Spring Hills, Fla.; a brother, Eudorice Thomas and wife, Wanda, Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Judy White and husband, Earl, Fresh Meadows; Connie Seiber, Sevierville, Tenn.; Almond Shackleford Jr., Louisville; Kevin Shackleford, Bledsoe; Donald G. Shackleford Jr., Douglas Shackleford; Amber Shackleford, Bobby James Shackleford and wife, Christy, all of Xenia, Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at Loyall Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Simpson officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Loyall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
