Jonathan Saylor and Kevin Howard combined on a four-hitter as the Reds edged the Dodgers 6-5 in Cawood Ledford Boys & Girls Club RBI baseball action at James A. Cawood High School.
Howard started and struck out three and walked four in 2 2/3 innings for the Reds. Saylor (1-0) fanned eight in 4 1/3 innings.
Marty Miniard powered the Reds with two singles and two RBI. Howard added a double. Eugene Farmer and John Stepp each singled once.
The Reds scored three runs in the seven inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Stepp.
Randy McMillian, Tyler Powers and Josh Howard pitched for the Dodgers. Howard suffered the loss.
Powers, Howard, Charlie Noe and John Graham each singled once.
The Yankees took advantage of four errors to claim a 5-4 win over the Cardinals.
Kevin Burkhart walked and scored on a wild pitch for the game-winning run.
John Smith (1-0) pitched the final two innings for the Yankees. R.J. Penny struck out seven and walked six in four innings.
Penny and Thomas Farrow each singled once for the Yankees.
Farrow's RBI groundout tied the game at 4 in the fifth inning.
Matt Haynes suffered the loss for the Cardinals. He pitched one inning and fanned one. D.J. Helton struck out six and walked four in the start for the Cards. Roy Britton had two strikeouts in two innings.
Haynes led the Cardinals with a double and single. Matt Marsee added a double. Brandon Smith singled once.

Union College is conducting two basketball camps this summer for girls ages 6 and up.
The first camp will be held from June 23-25 and the second from July 21-23. The cost for either is $50, and all campers will receive a T-shirt.
