Ted N. Thompson, 62, Frankfort, died July 14, 2003, after a battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Kentucky, he was born at Kitts in 1941.

He was a 31-year state employee, retiring in 2002 as the Deputy Commissioner of Human Resources Management, Transportation Cabinet. He graduated from Harlan High School and attended Southeast Community College at Cumberland.

He was a member of the Capital City Christian Church. He was a United Army veteran, attaining the rank E-7, Sergeant First Class, drill instructor, 100th Division at Evarts. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 7 at Frankfort.

He also served two terms as president of the Harlan Jaycees. He was a member of the Loyal Masonic Lodge 930 at Loyall.

He was an active member in the Travelers Protective Association of America (TPA) Post L. He served as committee chair, was active on the board of directors, served as vice president and was elected two terms as the group's president.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Vencin Monroe and Della Owens Thompson; and a sister, Bobbie Frances Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Taylor Thompson, Frankfort; a daughter, Stephanie Stigers and husband, Larry Jr., Frankfort; two brothers: Vince and wife, Carmen, Frankfort; and Doug, of Midland, Mich.; two special nephews: Stephen and Bryan Thompson, both of Frankfort; and several other relatives and special friends.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clark-Sunset Funeral Home in Frankfort.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Capital City Christian Church with the Rev. Derrel Cone officiating.

Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery.

Alan Pearson, Jerry Ravenscraft, Roy Short, Robert Simpson, Larry Stigers Jr. and Robert Tweed will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Taylor, Jack Ledford, Jay Barlow, Alan Ravenscraft, Bob Milam and James Codell III.

Memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Christian Church, 15 Locust Street, Frankfort, KY 40601 or to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Franklin County chapter, 208 Steele Street, Frankfort, KY 40601.

Clark-Sunset Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
