A native of Napier, he had lived in Harlan County most of his life before moving to Florence. He was a retired mine contractor.
Miniard served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sweet Haven Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Va.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Turner Miniard; and his father, Marion Miniard.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Williams Miniard; four children: Sheila Benita Huff and husband, Jeff, Florence; Karl Gregory Miniard and wife, Marquetta, Williamstown; Titus Joel Miniard, Dry Ridge; and Marion Mac Miniard, Elsmere; two stepdaughters: Jacqueline Posey, Florence; and Melinda Risner and husband, Steve, Kenvir; five sisters: Jewel Stewart and husband, Lowell, Verda; Alfredia Kenney, Seattle; Gladys Rose Miniard; Glenna Ruth Habich and husband, Larry; and Lela Mae Miniard, all of Louisville; five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Verda Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at noon at the church with the Rev. Danny McCreary and the Rev. Sonny Dean officiating.
Burial will follow in Abner's Branch Cemetery at Bledsoe.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
