Paul Ed Dixon, 77, Benham, died Aug. 28, 2003, at Britthaven of Tri-Cities following a long illness.

He was a retired coal miner for the Blue Diamond Coal Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was also a member and former pastor of the Gilliam Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Webb; his former spouse, Mickey Webb, Lynch; one son, Charles Douglas Dixon; his parents, the Rev. Frank and Mattie Lee Hall Dixon; and two brothers: Arthur Dixon and John David Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Kelly Dixon, Benham; five children: Freddie Dixon and wife, Teresa, Cumberland; Sandra Gail Hodges and husband, Bill, Cumberland; Robin Lynn Smith and husband, Eric, Cumberland; Gena Rae Webb Dudash and husband, Mike, Benham; and Chris Shannon Webb and wife, Lori, Corbin; three sisters: Elizabeth Foutch, Mabel Bledsoe and Kathleen Collins, all of Cumberland; four grandchildren: Danielle Renae Dixon, Evan Hodges, Emily Nicole Dixon and Breanne Smith; and two great-grandchildren: Nathan and Thomas Dudash.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Hall and the Rev. Billy Boggs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Heath Clem, Jason Howard, Mark Dixon, John Dixon, Jerry Dixon, Tim Curry, Bob Kelly and Wayne Kelly.

Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
