Hazard, ranked No. 1 in the mountains by WYMT, was led by 14 points from senior guard Parker Carter, 13 by senior forward Robert Lyttle and 11 by senior center Lamar Williams.
Guard Blake Hubbs and forward Travis Clem, both juniors, scored 12 and 10 poiints, respectively, to pace Cawood.
Leading 8-6 midway through the first quarter, Hazard went on a 9-2 run ignited by three baskets from Lyttle to go up 17-8 after one period.
Hazard continued the onslaught in the second quarter, outscoring Cawood 20-7 to take a 37-15 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs' lead grew to 38 by the end of the third quarter before Hubbs and Billydean Shelton helped Cawood outscore Hazard 11-9 in the final period.
The Trojans defeated Madison Southern by four points in a scrimmage on Nov. 21 at London. Cawood opens its regular season schedule Tuesday at home against Middlesboro in an 8 p.m. game.
In girls action at Hazard, Knott Central defeated Harlan 53-28 and the Cumberland-Lee County scrimmage was canceled.
