A native of Erwin, Tenn., he lived in Evarts most of his life. He was a former boss for the Peabody Coal Company and had been a barber at Stallard's Barber Shop for 30 years. He was a member of the Evarts Baptist Church and the Yocum Lodge No. 897 where he recently received his 50-year pin.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Taulby Stallard; his father, Nathan "Doc" Stallard; two sons: Lee Roy Stallard and Earl Jonathan Stallard; and four sisters: Ollie Stallard Simpson and triplet infant sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Madden Stallard, Evarts; three sons: Nathan Stallard and wife, Brenda, Harrogate; Herbert Stallard and wife, Janeen, Evarts; and Curtis Stallard and wife, Susan, Evarts; two sisters: Wilma Shackleford, Corbin; and Patsy Thomas, Moline, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Faulkner and the Rev. John Luttrell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stallard Family Cemetery at Evarts.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
