The Benham City Council held its regular meeting Thursday and discussed grass mowing problems in the city.

Since the city's two weedeaters and a lawn mower were stolen, the grass throughout the city hasn't been maintained properly said council members.

"I was told that Benham looked the worst it has ever had," said Mayor Betty Howard. "And I agree."

According to Howard, the Benham residents need to pitch in to keep the city looking nice.

"We are doing the best we can," said Howard. "If anyone would like to see it mowed, they can join me. The budget doesn't allow for new equipment."

According to council members, a special called meeting will be held in a few weeks for the proposed 2004-2005 fiscal year budget.

There is an outstanding bill of $3,642.61 for sanitation, $10,422.54 for property taxes for the years 2000-2004.

n heard from police officer Daniel Forester on the activity report for April. There were 11 traffic stops, 21 citations written, 197 security checks, three arrests, two accidents and 39 complaints.
