A native of Harlan, she lived in Dothan for over a year. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a graduate of James A. Cawood High School. She attended Lincoln Memorial University at Harrogate, Tenn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill Simms and Linda Martinez.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Fides, Dothan, Ala.; one brother, Bill Simms Jr., Dothan, Ala.; four sisters: Laura Burchfield, Salina, Kan.; Lynn Potier, Norfolk, Va.; Susan Simms and husband, Vern Guffy, Rio Vista; and Teresa Wattenberger Stewart, Loyall; her step-mother, Linette Hutchinson, Harlan; and a stepfather, Abel Martinez, Kansas.
Private services will be conducted in Dothan, Ala.
Memorials will be made to Harlan United Methodist Church Trustee fund in memory of Mrs. Fides.
