Marietta Ball Rogers, 77, Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Harlan County, died Oct. 11, 2004, at the Gateway Medical Center.

A native of Eminence, she was a retired school teacher with 54 years of service. During her career, she taught at Hall High School and several other schools.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville, a former member of the Harlan First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association, Tennessee Education Association and the National Education Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Judy Smith Ball; and a brother, Roy Ball Jr.

Survivors include a son, Mark Rogers, Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Bill Ball and wife, Jackie, Elizabethtown; a sister, Susan Ball and husband, Howard, Alexandria, Va.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Ball, Knoxville, Tenn.; three nephews, a niece, several relatives and friends.

Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson- Laws Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Griffie officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include William Ball, Howard Clark, Bradley Ball, Andrew Ball, Roy Ball and Bill Kempster.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Northeast High School Library, 3701 Trenton Road, Clarksville, Tenn., 37042.

Anderson-Laws Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
