Pearl Wilburn Morris Jr., 70, Ripley, Tenn., formerly of Cumberland, died Oct. 26, 2004, at his residence.

A native of Cumberland, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Gates Church of Christ. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, a former deputy sheriff in Letcher County and a former constable in Letcher County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Bessie May Morris.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Morris, Ripley, Tenn.; five children: Gay Couch, Connie Morris, Clay Morris and Randy Morris, all of Georgia, and Clayton Morris, Hazard; two brothers, Carl Morris, Cumberland, and Clifford Morris, Georgetown; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. today at Tri-City Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 1p.m. at the funeral home with R.B. Browning officiating.

Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
