Alfonzo Simms Jr., 77, Lynch, died March 11, 2005.

A native of Hopkins County, he was a federal mine inspector for 25 years.

He was a member of the Zodak Lodge 30, the United Mine Workers of America and Macedonia Baptist Church in Cumberland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonzo Sr. and Virginia Sanders Simms.

Survivors include four children: Alonzo Simms, East Chicago, Ind.; Mona Simms, Providence; Randell Simms and Valerie Haley, both of Lexington; and a stepfather, Edmond Sanders, Earlington.

Visitation is Tuesday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Lynch after 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at noon at the church with the Rev. Robert Henry and the Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating.

Burial will follow in in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
